We are primarily a social group. We have an annual fund-raising project which is Christmas in the Country. We also have a bake sale after all masses several times a year.
Our meetings are January, March, April, and May, September, October, and November. In June we have our “Spring Fling” in which we alternate lunch and dinner. These meetings usually begin at 7:30 and are over about 9:00 or 9:30. Most meetings are held in the church hall. Occasionally meetings will be held at a different location or time, which would be noted in the Sunday bulletin. During the regular meetings we have a brief business meeting, refreshments and either a game for prizes- which the society provides- a guest speaker or other planned activity. We do not meet in July and August.
The first Sunday of December is our Ladies Society Communion Breakfast at which the Men’s Society prepares, serves, and cleans up. We then have a charity auction for St. Vincent DePaul; we ask for any gifts, crafts, or baked goods etc. that the ladies wish to donate. This money is then used to purchase items for families chosen for help at Christmas time.
Please consider joining for it is truly “The More the Merrier”. Our fund-raising projects help with the purchase of items for St. Al’s church and to fund our social activities. We also donate to St. Joseph Consolidated School, Badin High School, the priest Christmas gifts and any other requests. We also donate to the annual Church Picnic. We do collect dues of $5.00 per person, and every lady over 18 years is automatically a member of St. Aloysius Ladies Society. We encourage you to be an active member and attend our meetings and activities. It is a great way to meet the ladies of the parish.
