3. Members of other parishes.
Learning Options
Parents are the first faith educators of their children. To assist parents in this most important mission, St. Aloysius provides three options for religious education.
The first option is to attend St. Aloysius' summer Parish Religious Education Program (PREP). These intensive classes take place over two weeks during the month of June, typically ending on the fourth Friday of the month. Students attend classes Monday through Friday from 8:30am until 12:00pm. This schedule affords older students the opportunity to explore ministry opportunities through server, lector, and extraordinary minister training for the weekly Masses. Please note that even though students are able to make up work at home due to occasional missed days, working at home for the entire two weeks is not an option for 8th grade students. 8th graders who will not be able to be physically present during the two weeks should use the Queen of Peace or Homeschool option below. For information, please contact Ann Shackleford (738-1014).
The second option is to attend weekly PREP classes at Queen of Peace parish. The classes typically follow the regular school schedule and run from September into May. For information, please contact Cheryl Hunt or the Queen of Peace parish office (863-4344).
The third option for parents is to homeschool. Information about homeschooling may be obtained on the Archdiocese of Cincinnati website. Parents should notify the parish of their intent to homeschool. Interviews with the pastor will be required prior to sacraments. For additional information, please contact (738-1014).
Information for Summer 2024:
- Classes will run from June 17-28, Monday thru Friday, 8:30am-noon for all grades, 1-8.
- We will still have a snack break midday. We try to make the snacks allergy friendly, but if you are concerned, it is fine to send your own snack.
- The fee will remain $30 per grade with a $30 sacrament fee for grades 2 & 8.
- Families of incoming 8th graders will receive another email regarding Confirmation meetings in May.
- Second graders will need to attend First Reconciliation/First Communion classes from January through April on Sunday mornings at St. Al’s, as well as the summer classes. The extra First Communion classes are not standalone. The summer work needs to be completed.
- Eighth graders will need to attend a Confirmation retreat, as well as complete some additional work in order to be confirmed.
If the summer schedule does not work for your family, Queen of Peace has classes on Sunday mornings through the school year. Please contact the Queen of Peace parish office at 513-863-4344 for information.
Due to space limitations, we will need to limit registration to 200 students. Current students and families have priority until April 15, then it is on a first come, first served basis.
If you are a new family, and would like more information, please contact Ann Shackleford at 513-288-9379 or stalsprep@gmail.com
